PROVENANCE [ THE FOX REEFER JACKET ]
Utilising Fox military coloured cloth, designed to withstand the elements and to create a hard-wearing deck jacket, which is both versatile and practical. A heritage fabric, woven by Fox Brothers for over one hundred years. Made from 100% natural wool, containing flecks of kemp, which provide the piece with unique characteristics and flair.
After receiving attention and being made popular by the British Navy, the stylish design quickly broke into America, having been adopted by the US Navy as part of their uniform, as well as being popularized with ‘reefers’ sailing the high seas.
The high collar, double-breasted closure, and mid length cut, provided manoeuvrability and comfort for brave and skilful servicemen. Nowadays, the stylish design has become practical for everyday wear for activities such as commuting to your next business meeting, or even walking through the ‘hustle and bustle’ of the city centre.
Fox Brothers & Co Ltd, was originally established in 1772 in the beautiful setting of Somerset, England. The traditional woollen mill is credited with being the originator of fine woollen and worsted flannels, over the course of the past century and is still said to produce the best cloth in the world.
These jackets are made in Napoli Italy.
